We believe that anyone can benefit from therapy. That being said, you may particularly benefit from professional support if you find yourself feeling trapped in patterns of thought, emotion and behavior that simply aren’t working for you. Therapy offers clients a space to better understand those patterns and build skills to change them. Though friends and family can lend a sympathetic ear, they likely lack the capacity to consistently hold space, challenge and guide towards growth the way a professional can.
Many patients also turn to therapy in moments of transition or during periods of high stress to bolster their support system and tune up their skills. -
We currently offer telehealth sessions in New York and California and in person sessions in New York.

Finding the right therapist is hard and sometimes we don't get it right. That’s okay! Just let us know and we’ll work to understand where we went wrong and help find someone more suitable to you and your needs.

That depends! For some, therapy is a life-long practice, a way to stay connected to self and to maintain their wellness. For others, therapy is more of a drop-in service. Couples preparing for marriage or clients who just moved to a new place may want short-term support and that works too!

We will guide our consultation so don’t feel as though you have to come with a perfectly outlined agenda. That being said, it’s helpful to spend some time thinking about what’s been feeling hard. What’s keeping you up at night and how would you like things to be different? If you’ve had past experience in therapy, we love to hear about that as well.

Though we firmly believe in supporting accessibility of care, we also understand that involving insurance companies in the treatment of our clients can prove disruptive on multiple levels. Insurers’ oversight creates a third party that can make determinations about the nature of your care. Working with insurance companies is also time consuming to your clinician whose time and energy we believe is better spent with you.
We provide superbills to patients who have insurance coverage and who wish to request reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. All of our therapists also retain a small number of reduced fee slots on an as needed, short-term basis, based on availability.

First of all, yes-therapy IS expensive. We encourage you to think of this as an investment in yourself and to remember that the skills you build in treatment will be with you for the rest of your life.
Our therapists are skilled. They’ve spent time, energy and resources training to be very good at what they do and we believe in paying them accordingly! Additionally, a well compensated therapist is a therapist who is able to take care of themselves and therefore is better able to care for you.
They are able to maintain a manageable caseload, avoid burnout, continue to invest in their professional development and be the best clinician they can be.

Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to give uninsured clients an estimate of their anticipated treatment costs. Clients can request a Good Faith Estimate before their first session, or at any time during treatment. If they receive a bill that is at least $400 more than their Good Faith Estimate, it can be disputed.
For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, visit: www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

To put it simply-you’ll eventually start to feel better and more equipped to handle what the world throws at you. Though it’s not uncommon to initially feel a bit off kilter (we’re digging up stuff you might have worked hard to bury!), good treatment will eventually lead to an improvement in your feelings of well-being.
Your therapist will work with you to manage expectations and help you anticipate what your progress might look like. Of course, we cannot predict the twists and turns of life or what they will bring up for you, but overall you should start feeling like your understanding of yourself and your coping toolkit are expanding. And if not, let us know! Your feedback is encouraged and always welcome.
